The Boarding Counsellor has a vital, active and significant role in supporting pastoral care within Boarding time and reporting directly to the Head of Boarding and Pastoral Care or Deputy Head of Boarding and Pastoral Care to assist in achieving a safe, happy and supportive community. It is expected that the Boarding Counsellor participate fully in School training and professional development.
We would like to appoint a supportive and caring Boarding Counsellor for 2022-2023 academic year with an excellent English proficiency and deep understanding of Letovo School vision, mission and values.

Duties and responsibilities: - Promote and uphold the School’s mission and values amongst stakeholders in line with policies and procedures
- To support an ethos that is supportive, provides clear boundaries and expectations in all aspects of boarding
- Ensure the safety and welfare of students in the Boarding Houses is outstanding and that all their personal and pastoral needs are appropriately met by active involvement in the boarding community
- Foster a welcoming, happy, collective, and productive environment for student learning, development, and emotional well-being
- Support the School’s discipline policy, monitor behavior and report any issues to the Head of Boarding & Pastoral Care (The Boarding Counsellor is not expected to take part in the discipline process)
- Work collaboratively with other staff members across the School to develop students’ Individual Learning Plans (ILP) and support each student to achieve his/her potential and take responsibility for their own learning to the highest standards in particular in close cooperation with the School Psychologists
- To oversee pastoral records of students’ progress, pastoral (welfare/emotional), health, achievements, and misconduct and to provide such reports and references as may be reasonably required including a weekly Red Amber Green (RAG) report
- To attend regular Boarding and Pastoral meetings, Safeguarding meetings, and cross department meetings
- To produce daily confidential handovers in line with department requirement to Head and Deputy Head of Boarding
- To maintain a high level of professional integrity and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information and to report any concerns correctly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead/Person (DSL/P)
- To provide a confidential Independent Listener role for staff and students reporting any safeguarding concerns directly to the DSL/P
- To take part in the Wellness committee, plan & help run social, emotional, and counselling related initiatives in cooperation with colleagues
- To prepare speed training sessions for staff
- To assist in policy writing
- To contact parents if required by the Head or Deputy Head of Boarding
- To provide cover for Boarding duties in case of illness or emergency
Candidate requirements:
- Higher education in Psychology (Masters level or higher) in related area with at least 5 years counselling experience desirable
- Experience as a psychologist in the sphere of education with teenagers
- English level proficiency (C1-C2)
- Computer skills in line with seniority of the role
Personal: High levels of integrity, commitment, flexibility, organization, and responsibility with a genuine love of children & young people.
Working Hours: 14.30 – 22.30 (estimated), 5 days per week with 2 consecutive days off. Attendance at all Boarding and Pastoral training days & Student induction days. There is a requirement to be on site a day prior to boarders return and departures and to be available for these days within the boarding houses.
